10 years at the hearth

01 — Our story

One fire, four seasons, zero shortcuts.

We started Ember & Oak with a single belief: everything tastes better touched by oak fire. Ten years on, our whole menu still passes through one hearth — vegetables blistered, breads baked, meats rested in embers.

Ninety percent of what we serve comes from within a hundred miles. The menu rewrites itself with the market, every few weeks.

“We don't own a gas burner. If the fire can't cook it, it isn't on the menu.”

— Mara Ellison, chef & co-founder

The oak fire

Everything we serve meets the flame.

No gas, no electric ovens — just Oregon white oak, a cast-iron hearth and a decade of practice. Sit at the hearth counter and watch your dinner cook six feet away.

  • Chef's counter — 8 seats facing the fire, new course drops nightly.
  • Seven-course tasting — $95 per guest, $55 with wine pairing.
  • Sunday ember roast — a whole-animal feast, 4 – 9 pm.

The ribeye alone is worth the trip, but the hearth counter made it theatre. Best anniversary dinner we've had in years.

“Vegetarian tasting menu that doesn't feel like an afterthought. The ember-baked celeriac was unreal.”

“Booked for a work dinner, stayed for three hours. Service reads the room perfectly.”
